Davidoff Colorado Claro The Davidoff Colorado Claro cigars are made in very limited productions. It's been more than 7 years since we've had any of these special cigars for sale. Now, through more attention in the sorting process in Dominican Republic, we will be bringing these cigars back to the U.S. They are the same blend as their name implies, except with a darker richer wrapper leaf adding some intensity and aroma. Our first shipment arrived early in the fall and sold out in 2 days. We've just received only a few boxes of ten cigars in 2 formats: Short Perfecto ($137+taxes), and for the first time the Double R ($276) Davidoff Puro Belicoso Additionally, we've just released a very small amount of never-released Davidoff "Puro Belicoso". PROCIGAR FESTIVAL 2010

Image
It is that time once again to begin thinking about this year's ProCigar festival.  For those of you unfamiliar with ProCigar, it was founded 1992 by the leading Dominican Cigar manufacturers.  Since then, the member manufacturers have worked tirelessly to "compare notes" and trade ideas, always with a common goal in mind- "to defend, protect and divulge the good name of the land of Cigar Country, number one exporter of Premium Cigars in the World." This is the thrid annual event, and each year gets better and better! This year we are pleased once again to host a group to attend this fabulous trip.  Our group will meet in Santiago, Dominican Republic on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Camp David Ranch.  This gorgeous hotel will be reserved exclusively for the Davidoff NY group.  On Tuesday evening, our group will enjoy a fabulous Dominican Dinner at the hotel complete with an incredible selection of Premium Cigars from our hosts. The following 3 days will ...

An INCREDIBLE evening of tasting.

So, last night I hosted a dinner for 30 folks that was requested to be an evening of pairings. While it's common to have pairings of food and wines, often times the cigar portion is left out of the mix. BUT, when you have 30 cigar enthusiasts... it becomes a very important part of the overall equation. After a great deal of work (and pre-tasting) with the folks from Rothmann's Steakhouse and Andrew Bell (President of the American Sommelier Assoc) we came up with an evening that will be very hard to beat. 1) Tesch Konigschild Riesling Spatlese Trocken 2005 Nahe Germany (750ml) Davidoff Grand Cru No. 4 The entrance was meant to set the stage for the evening. A German Riesling is hardly the first pick for any cigar, however in this particular case the two go together beautifully- each "filling in the blanks" for what the other didn't offer. 2) Chilled Seafood Platter (Oysters, Mussells, Clams, Scallops, Lobster tail, crab meat) Moraga White 2007 Bel Air ...

October wrap up!

Image
What a month!  October was jammed with some incredibly exciting things!  On October 6 I participated in the 2009 Annual Porterhouse Open at the Quaker Ridge Country Club to benefit the Alan T. Brown Foundation to help find a cure for paralysis.  It was a beautiful day and lots of money was raised! That Following weekend I trecked out to Los Angeles for a couple days to celebrate the 60th Birthday of my good buddy Fred Schrader , proprieter of Schrader Cellars in Napa Valley.  If you're not familiar with Schrader's wines... you're missing out.  His 2006 "Old Sparky" is currently the highest rated American Cabernet of the vintage." While we partied all weekend at Chateau Marmont , drinking wine and smoking amazing cigars (Davidoff Ltd Ed 2009's were served after dinner), Schrader Cellars sold $511,000 of Cabernet from its cellar at a Zachys wine auction in Los Angeles, featuring 195 lots and including every wine Schrader has made along with many ra...
