Litto Gomez LG Diez "Galego"

Litto Gomez, owner of La Flor Dominicana Cigars has created a new cigar available exclusively at New York City's Davidoff stores.  The LG "Galego" is a massive 6" x 60 ring gauge Dominican Puro and is available in boxes of 24 cigars.

The LG Diez line was created in 2004 to commemorate La Flor Dominicana's 10th Anniversary.  The cigars were met with instant success in our stores, delivering a sensational spice and complex flavor that our customers really enjoyed.  In 2008, Gomez changed directions and made the LG line a "Vintage" line; utilizing only tobaccos from one particular harvest year.  The LG line remains one of our most sought after cigars.

After several months of discussions and developments, the "Galego" has finally reached our humidors and joins the very small selection of "Exclusive Blends" offered only at the NYC Davidoff Shops.  These extra-special cigars will only be available while inventories last.

After allowing them to rest a few days in the humidor, I finally fired one up.

The wrapper is a gorgeous reddish/brown with very little veins and wonderful oil. It is heavy in the hand, with flawless construction.  The pre-light draw offered just enough resistance to know it was not going to burn hot, but would smoke well.  Initial spiciness was evident.

Once lit, the cigar instantly delivered a richness and body that is quite characteristic of the LG line.  However, in such a large ring gauge, the overall "mouth-feel" of the smoke was much heavier, no doubt due to the increased amounts of filler tobaccos.  Fortunately the bright spiciness from the the Dominican wrapper that is so unique was not lost. It continued to develop complexity as it burned down- gaining flavors of grilled meat, cooking spices, black pepper and some toastiness on the finish.

I think the LG Galego is undoubtedly ready to be smoked now, but its intensity and richness guarantee an interesting long-term aging experience as well, since much of what was so obvious and intense now will no doubt turn more subtle and complex over time.

I can't express how thrilled and appreciative I am to Litto Gomez for making such a special cigar for the Davidoff New York shops.

After more than a year of work and development, the My Father "Belicoso", made exclusively for the Davidoff New York stores is now available.  This was a special project between Davidoff GM Michael Herklots, Jaime and Janny Garcia of My Father Cigar Factory, and Rich Rodenhaus and John Gonzalez of My Father Cigars.  These beautiful Nicaraguan Puros were blended to be slightly outside the classic "Pepin" experience.  Modeled after the Bolivar Belicoso Fino, at 5.5" x 52 and packaged in traditional cabinets of 50 cigars, these Campanas smoke with a tremendous creaminess while still maintaining their rich Nicaraguan character and body.
